After a disappointing IPL 2025 season, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced fresh speculation over player releases. The five-time champions, who finished last on the points table for the first time in their history, quickly addressed the rumors on their official X account.
CSK ended the season with just four wins and ten losses, breaking several long-standing records, including home defeats to Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad claiming their first win at CSK’s home ground.
Star skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad played only five matches before being sidelined, leaving MS Dhoni to step in mid-season, but the team could not reverse its fortunes.
Ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, speculations arose about releasing players like Deepak Hooda, Sam Curran, and Devon Conway to free up funds, with Ravichandran Ashwin’s retirement adding INR 9.75 crore. CSK quickly shut down these rumors, updating their bio on X to clarify: “Nothing’s official till you see it here.”
The IPL 2026 auction is expected between December 13-15, likely taking place in India.
