‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ Roars Past ₹500 Crore Worldwide in Just One Week

Rishab Shetty and Hombale Films’ Kantara: Chapter 1 has set the box office on fire, crossing the ₹500 crore mark worldwide in just one week. The film has grossed an impressive ₹509.25 crore in its first extended week, paving a strong path toward the ₹1,000 crore milestone.

Written and directed by Rishab Shetty, the film now ranks as the second-highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, trailing only Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2. If its current momentum continues, Kantara: Chapter 1 could soon challenge the KGF 2 benchmark.

The makers celebrated the achievement on social media with a dynamic poster and caption:

“The divine cinematic storm continues to soar higher at the box office. #KantaraChapter1 crosses 509.25 CRORES+ GBOC worldwide in the 1st week! #BlockbusterKantara running successfully in cinemas near you (sic).”

Backed by a talented crew – including music director B. Ajaneesh Loknath, cinematographer Arvind Kashyap, and production designer Vinesh Banglan – the film’s visuals and emotional depth have drawn widespread praise.

A prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara, which earned Rishab Shetty a National Award for Best Actor, Kantara: Chapter 1 explores mythology, folklore, and the harmony between humans and nature.

Released on October 2 in Kannada, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, and English, the film continues to resonate with audiences across regions. Domestically, it has collected around ₹334.94 crore nett in eight days, with weekend numbers expected to soar further.

The film also features Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram, and Pramod Shetty alongside Rishab Shetty.
