Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman has gifted his iconic white grand piano to his nephew and acclaimed music director G V Prakash Kumar, celebrating Prakash’s recent National Award victory.
Sharing the news on X, G V Prakash posted photos of the piano and wrote, “The best ever gift I received. @arrahman sir gifted me this beautiful white grand piano for receiving the National Awards for the second time. Thanks a lot sir, this means a lot. The piano used by the legend himself — what better gift can I ask for?”
GV Prakash won his second National Award for his composition in Dhanush’s Vaathi. Receiving the honour from President Droupadi Murmu at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, he expressed gratitude to his supporters: “I am very thankful and happy that I have won a National Award. This is my second time. I dedicate this to all my fans who stood with me for 20 years and 110 films.”
His first National Award was for the background score of Soorarai Pottru, starring Suriya. Reflecting on his journey, G V Prakash noted that composing for songs and background scores comes with distinct challenges, but both remain equally fulfilling parts of his craft.
