Actor Robo Shankar Passes Away

Popular Tamil cinema comedian Robo Shankar has passed away at the age of 46. He suddenly collapsed on the set of a new film on September 16 and was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai. Doctors reported that initial tests revealed severe damage to his liver and kidneys. He passed away on the night of September 18 at 8:30 PM.

Two years ago, Robo Shankar was affected by jaundice and underwent significant treatment. As a result of that treatment, he had lost a considerable amount of weight, which had worried his fans.

The prefix “Robo” in his name came from his robotic-style dance performances. He gained widespread recognition through the reality TV show “Kalakka Povathu Yaaru?”, which showcased the talents of comedians. After acting in early films such as “Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara” and “Vaayai Moodi Pesavum”, he achieved a breakthrough with the role of “Sanikkizhamai” alongside Dhanush in “Maari” (2015).

Following this, he appeared in films like “Singam 3”, “Velaikkaran”, “Kalakalappu 2”, “Maari 2”, “Iravin Nizhal”, and “Singapore Saloon”. His last film was “Sotta Sotta Nanayuthu”.

His last rites will be held at his residence in Valasaravakkam, Chennai.
