The ruling DMK government’s ally, Thamizhaga Vazhvurimai Katchi (TVK), has called for a complete ban on ‘Bigg Boss Tamil’ in the state. TVK leader and MLA Velmurugan alleged that the popular reality show has been portraying scenes that denigrate Tamil culture and values.
“‘Bigg Boss’ is showing activities that target Tamil culture and tradition, and it is trying to destroy the future of students. Disgusting body movements, kissing scenes, and bedroom scenes, which cannot be viewed in the presence of girls or children, are being shown. They have not shown sexual scenes until now,” said Velmurugan.
The MLA revealed that he had already approached Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker Appavu with an attention-seeking motion regarding the issue. “If the Speaker does not allow the motion for discussion, and if the Chief Minister and the IT and Broadcast departments fail to act, we will stage a massive protest inside the Bigg Boss arena and at Vijay Television, along with several thousand women,” he warned.
‘Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9,’ hosted by Vijay Sethupathi, premiered on October 5 with 20 contestants, including actors, influencers, anchors, comedians, and models.
